The highlights of the day are as follows:
I had to be induced due to a nasty bought of food poisoning that left me dehydrated and Dagney pissed off (I still sneer at Firehouse Subs when I drive by).
Dr. Jones delivered Dagney even though she wasn't on call, which makes her my hero :).
Scary story: the umbilical cord tore during delivery, which sent blood everywhere. Dr. Jones kind of lobbed Dagney at me in her rush to get it clamped off. This resolved without incident, which would have made Dr. Jones my hero if she wasn't already (see above)!
Funny story: when the nurses were making Dagney's footprints (right after she was born), one of her toes didn't press down hard enough to show up on the page. They were across the room, and I couldn't see; I just heard a nurse say, "Hey, she's missing a toe!" There was a brief moment of horror until she explained, after which Dr. Jones said (ever so coolly), "I knew I counted them."
We were surrounded by family and friends for three days, but we were ready to go home and hit the ground running (or, walking very gingerly). At any rate, I missed my bed and home-cooked meals, so we ventured off to try living on our own....
A few pics from the big day:
Proud Daddy: already so in love!
I am so amazed by this little creature!
Our first (almost) family photo. Alas, Sammy is missing!
The audition: Dagney meets pseudo-Sammy
The real deal: meeting big brother
