Happy Birthday to Daddy and Auntie!

On August 17, Dagney went to the doctor for her 15 month check-up. She is now 32 inches tall and weighs 27 lbs, 4 oz! We uphold the Tanner family tradition of going out to eat any time you go to the doctor, so we went to McDonald's afterward for a Happy Meal. Dagney likes to dip the same fry in ketchup over and over again, eating only the ketchup each time. The good news is, she doesn't eat that many fries. The bad news is, I'm pretty sure you can't survive on ketchup and milk alone.

Dagney has slept in her big girl bed 4 times now. We are so proud of her! The first two nights, she woke up at 4 am and got in bed with us. Friday, she made it through the whole night, from 11 til 8:30. Such a big girl!

We have put potty-training on hold, since she's learning to sleep by herself. We don't want to make too many changes at a time. Also, the other day she pooped on my foot, which has been our worst potty-training mishap to date and was a little discouraging. She's only 15 months old; we have a long time to learn the potty!

Saturday and Sunday were Sam and Stephie's birthdays. Sam's parents came up to visit too, and we had a great time! Saturday we went out to dinner at Veranda. We had never been there, but so many restaurants are getting away from taking reservations, you're really limited to finer dining. I mean, for 8-10 people and a baby on a Saturday night in a major city, you'd have to be insane to not have a reservation! The food at Veranda was amazing, but it was not child-friendly. They didn't have a kids' menu, and EVERY appetizer was seafood. I ordered her a side of sweet potatoes, and they came covered with caramelized onions! She ended up with a sampling off everyone's plate-- she tried scallop (and spit it out), filet mignon (that too), she LOVED the goat cheese grits, liked these little crab balls pretty well, and ate some bread. The piece de resistance was daddy's birthday cake-- chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream between the layers, covered with chocolate ganache, with chocolate curls on top. Dagney was obviously a big fan. All in all, our dining experience took 2 hours and 45 minutes and Dagney was a perfect angel. She didn't fuss at all; we were so proud of her!

Last night we went to Village Tavern at the Summit for Stephie's birthday dinner. The food was good and pretty reasonably priced. The service wasn't great, but I'd be willing to give it another try with a smaller group of people. All in all, it was a great birthday weekend; I think everyone enjoyed themselves!
