Saturday, Dagney went pee-pee in her princess potty! She woke up from a nap, and we just put her on it, and she went! Then, she started crying. We applauded her and she got happy again, and that was that! Such a big girl!
In other news, Dagney and I have both been plague-ridden. Dagney got the viral conjunctivitis/ear infection combo, followed shortly thereafter by croup. I got the viral conjunctivitis/chest and sinus congestion/hoarseness combo. Together, we have been a raucous pair. Fortunately, Dagney is better now. If I can just keep from giving it back to her....
Dagney's Pinkeye
Mommy's Pinkeye
In positive news, Dagney said "mommy" yesterday (as opposed to "mama"). She said it in protest while I was changing her diaper yesterday morning--- "mom-mmy". She is also saying "yummy" now when she eats or wants a snack. It is so cute; she says it funny. It sounds like "yummaaay" with a long "a" sound. Hysterical. I'm glad she's starting some new words. Sam had started getting concerned that it's been so long since she learned any. She learned the first handful really early and then kind of tapered off. I've heard that verbal skills take a backseat to motorskills, though, so I'm not worried. My kid is a genius until proven otherwise. :)
Speaking of genius, today Dagney called me. She likes to walk around speaking her language (which is akin to Vietnamese) into the phone. Today while she was doing it, my cell phone rang, and it was her!
Tonight my wannabe vegetarian ate chicken for dinner! I had made chicken salad from a rotisserie chicken I bought at Publix, and I saved a leg for her. Not only did she eat the entire thing (before her sacred grapes), she ate the fallen pieces off of her bib! She loved it! I'm glad she finally got some protein; I was starting to be afraid that raisins would be her sole source of iron for life!
Tomorrow, Dagney's class is having a luau. I'm excited about it! I made a pineapple upside down cake and bought Dagney a little grass skirt and flower bikini top. She's gonna be so cute! She'll probably be the only one dressed up but hey, I plan to take full advantage of the fact that she's too young to be embarrassed by her mother. I'll post some pics tomorrow of the party!
