We took Dagney to Boo at the Zoo on Saturday, and she had so much fun! We thought she was finally big enough to ride a moving animal on the carousel (as opposed to the bench or the stationary animals). She rode the bear, and she was bouncing up and down and periodically patting him on the head. They were running the carousel backward with no lights on to make it "scary," but Dagney was fine. I, on the other hand, almost barfed.
We also went on a hayride, a spooky train ride (Dagney got scared once), and went digging for skeleton bones. We went through a Planet of the Apes themed haunted house, too. We weren't sure how Dagney would do, so mom was holding her. At one point, someone jumped out in a gorilla costume and went running toward Dagney, growling and snarling. We all turned to see how she would react, and she held up her little crooked finger and said, "No ma'am!" We all died. Hilarious!
The one thing Dagney was afraid of was the zoo staff dressed like Storm Troopers. Being big Star Wars fans (not the creepy D&D type), we wanted to get a picture of her with them. She wouldn't go by herself, and really wasn't even ok with Stephie holding her next to the Storm Troopers.
We're trying to teach Dagney how to say "trick-or-treat" before Halloween. Every time we went up to one of the little candy tables, we would say it, hoping that she would catch on. She didn't, but she sure caught on to the idea of getting candy! After a couple tables, whenever we would approach one, she would start bouncing up and down and reaching for the candy. We let her eat a tootsie roll pop, and we went out for pizza afterward. All, in all, I think it was a pretty successful evening!
