A Food Odyssey

I have a new mission in life.

At the B&B Sam and I stayed at yesterday, there was a pamphlet called "100 dishes to eat in Alabama before you die." This is a list of dishes, by city, highly recommended by tourism professionals in Alabama. My new mission, nay OBSESSION, is completing this list. I WILL eat all of these things.

I am amazed at how many of these things I have not eaten, and how many of the restaurants I haven't even been to! Even in an area as small as Daphne/Fairhope (where I'm from, no less), I have eaten none of the 6 dishes! The thing I am most excited to try is carmelized day boat scallops with wild mushroom risotto, Swiss chard, and white truffle oil at The Battle House Hotel in Mobile. So far, I have eaten so few of the dishes (about 3), that I am going to start from scratch and take Dagney with me on this food odyssey. My little girl likes to eat almost as much as her mama, and I want to instill in her a love of food and an adventurous palate! So far, she loves Indian and Mexican food, but we need to work on the soul food. This is gonna be so much fun; I can't wait!
