We're trying to teach her "Trick-or-treat" before Halloween, but so far we've had limited success. The best we've gotten is "Tic-a-ttt." We've even been bribing her with candy. She tries so hard, but all she gets out is "Tic-a-ttt." I'm a room mom for her class at daycare, so I'm planning a Halloween party for the toddlers. It's gonna be awesome! So far, I'm planning on making butternut squash mac and cheese, pumpkin apple muffins, and chocolate rice krispy treats. I'm also putting together some little treat bags for her classmates. Based on the fact that none of her classmates ever dress up for the little school occasions (fairytale day, circus day, etc), I'm anticipating very little participation/help, and I refuse to let babies have a lame Halloween. Thus, this operation will be codenamed "Combat lame parents." I mean, how much effort does it really take to make something awesome for a 1-year old?
In other news, Dagney has finally discovered the giant giraffe that has been painted on her bedroom wall since before she was born. She taunts him, pointing and laughing and babbling things that I can't understand. Last night, when we left her bedroom, she waved at it and said, "Bye bye." Maybe she recognizes a giraffe now that we've been to the zoo? I don't know what's going through her head, but I guess it never hurts to have an extra friend.
