This weekend, Dagney decided she was ready to start running. She's been taking some occasional steps for a while, maybe 4 or 5 steps at a time before sitting down. Suddenly, she's unstoppable. She walked around the house all weekend. Saturday, she pushed her popcorn popper all the way down the hall and when she got to the rug she picked it up, set it over the "hump," and kept walking! She likes to run around the table, because she can slip between the chairs easily and we can't follow. She has now walked almost the entire length of the house without holding anything (from the couch in the living room to our bed). Pretty impressive!
Dagney is also throwing kisses now. They must have taught her that at daycare; it's not one of our projects! It's funny; she only remembers to do it when she's eating. She'll put something in her mouth, and when her hand claps over her mouth, it's like it jogs her memory. Then she'll throw a few kisses before eating some more. It's pretty cute.
This morning, I was running myself a bath and when I turned around from turning on the water, Dagney was sitting in the tub! After I gave her a bath, I had to chase her down to get her clothes on. She's starting to want to watch cartoons, too; I think she likes The Backyardigans. They sing alot, and she stands in front of the TV and dances. I hope she doesn't start to like Yo Gabba Gabba. That show makes me want to hurt people; it is more annoying than gridlock.
This past weekend, mom was here. She's been trying for months to talk Sam and me into taking Dagney to Disney World in January. We were adamantly opposed at first, but last week I found a Frommer's guide about taking kids to Disney World. It has an age-appropriateness rating for every attraction, and it turns out Dagney can do about 20 things at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. Knowing this, I'm actually getting excited about the prospect of taking her. With all the required napping and breaks from being in line, we'll probably be able to do right at 20 things in 4 days :) Mom took her shopping for "princess clothes" for the trip. Now Dagney has several Disney character outfits, 3 sets of princess pajamas, and a battery-operated Tinker Bell ATV. Disney World, here we come!
