Memorial Day Weekend

Dagney is making great strides toward learning to feed herself. She puts her spoon into her bowl and "scoops" until she gets frustrated (the spoon empty almost every time), then she tips the bowl up and tries to get her face into it. The bowl isn't wide enough, but at this stage she usually spills whatever is in the bowl, then laps it up off her tray table. Fortunately, once she realizes that she can't quite do it herself, she'll allow me to spoon feed her. This is quite a discovery, since she hasn't let me in a long time!

This weekend, we had a blast in the pool! Dagney absolutely LOVES it. She has a little pool float, and she propels herself around the pool kicking her little legs. I also hold her by the arms and drag her around the water so she gets the feel of swimming. She has so much fun, and it leads to a nice long nap!

We had a "cookout" too, with ribs, burgers, hot dogs, potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans, and Jello cake. We made it all inside, but that still counts as a cookout, right? Dagney tried ribs and potato salad, but wasn't a huge fan. She ate a couple bites of burger and part of a hot dog. She loves Jello cake, that's for sure. A true Tanner!

All in all, it was a great weekend. We had some friends over for food and games. It was a nice way to say good-bye to my time off; school starts tomorrow. I'm only taking two classes this semester, though. For the first time in a long while, I'm doing what I want to do: focusing on family and taking it easy at school. This is my last semester of classes, then it's dissertation work until they hand me that sheepskin! It can't come soon enough!
