Our Little Sugar Shack

We got word the other day that Dagney is moving up to Toddler class in a couple weeks. Our little girl is a "toddler"! I think she's way more independent at school, and does things there that she doesn't do at home. Even though she walks a little at home, I wouldn't consider her "toddling" yet. Also, they sent home a note the other day requesting a sippy cup for her, because she "wants one." Attempts to get her to use a sippy at home have resulted in tears on her end, and the need for a new rug on mine. What gives?

One thing Dagney has picked up somewhere is giving sugar. She's been doing it sporadically for awhile, but now she does it on demand. If you say, "Give me sugar", she leans forward and presses her open mouth against yours. She apparently doesn't grasp the kissy lips concept yet, but it's so adorable.

Now, a not so adorable one-- Dagney is now in the habit of casting everything aside when she's finished with it. When she's at her highchair and finished eating, she takes everything left on her tray and throws it on the floor for brother. Kind of sweet and yet, not so much when she's dumping blackberries on the carpet. She does it in the bathtub too-- when she gets tired of being in there, she starts chucking her toys, shampoo, and washcloth out of the tub. Either that, or she pulls the drain plug and tries to shove her washcloth down there.

She's also in the habit of pulling her little non-slip fish off the bottom of the bathtub and trying to eat them. And she scares the crap out of me putting her mouth underwater and trying to blow bubbles. She LOVES the water; I just wish she wasn't quite so comfortable with it, since we have the pool to contend with. This weekend maybe we'll go for a dip; Dagney has some cute swimsuits to show off. Plus, what's Memorial Day without some BBQ and swimming?
