Sharing and Other Disgusting Habits

An update to Dagney's unwillingness to eat off of a spoon: she will now occasionally do so. The ritual goes like this-- first, you have to put a little on your finger and manage to get it in her mouth. If you are successful AND she deems the new food better than whatever fingerfood she's eating, then she will open her mouth about as wide as the cash slot on an ATM and invite you to attempt to squeeze the spoon in. This seems to work best with strawberry yogurt.

Dagney has also picked up "sharing," whereby she will chew on something for several minutes (she only has 2 and 3/4 teeth, you know) , then spit it into her hand and offer it to whoever is nearest her. This is very cute, unless you're not paying attention and she manages to get it into your mouth. She also likes to share with brother, and Sammy ends up getting about half of her food. She likes to throw things down to him and cackle like crazy when he catches them. He particularly enjoys chicken fries and goldfish crackers.

Yesterday we took our little princess for her 1 year portraits (pics to come!). We took a little cake for her, and she loved it! She took the candle off first and was sucking on it, completely ignoring the cake. Sam took the candle from her and she threw a fit until he put a little frosting from the cake in her mouth. You could see the realization dawn on her: Wait! The taste is actually coming from THERE? Then she attacked the cake! She got it everywhere; even on her knees. I had to practically bathe her in the sink at Target; my messy little girl!

It's so hard to believe that our little one is going to be a year old tomorrow. Where did the time go? It seems like just yesterday that I was impatiently awaiting her arrival. Now, I am in the midst of planning her first birthday party (to be held this weekend)! What a year it's been!
